You are invited to crochet a beautiful quick hat with me, using a “short rows” technique. The hat will be crocheted in rows in one piece that will be sewed later.
The instructions refers to 2 sizes – S and M, but you can crochet a bigger / smaller size hat by changing the number of chains, that determine the hat length, and the number of rows, that determine the hat width. Just keep in mind that you have to crochet a full set of repeats (rows 2-5), as explained in the instructions.

S - circumference approx. 20” / 51 cm
Full height – top to base before folding approx. 10.23”/ 26 cm.
M – circumference approx. 22.8” / 58 cm
Full height – top to base before folding approx. 11.4” / 29 cm.

Materials
•2 skeins of Katia Big Merino yarn (5-Bulky category yarn - 55% Virgin Wool, 45% Acrylic, 100 g, 80 m / 87 yds). I used color 31 - Medium rose for the demonstrations and color 18 – Pistachio for an additional hat which you can see here.

•Size 6.5 mm crochet hook or any other size needed to obtain gauge.

Here you can see 2 little bumps behind the chains - one is marked using a crochet hook and the second is marked using a needle.

Rep rows 2-5 11 more times, for total of 49 rows, ch 1 to secure, cut the yarn, leaving an extra 40 cm tail & pull it from the st.

While the WS is facing you fold the piece to 2, so after folding, the RS will be facing you.
כאשר הצד השמאלי של הכובע פונה אלינו, נקפל את הכובע לשניים, כך שהצד הימני שלו יפנה אלינו,
Sew each st of the first and last rows together through their flo - as demonstrated by the photo bellow - the needles mark the loops of the first 4 sts.
בעזרת מחט נתפור את השורות הראשונה והאחרונה של היריעה הסרוגה דרך הע' הקדמיות של כל זוג תפרים - בתמונה ניתן לראות את 4 זוגות התפרים הראשונים שיתפרו יחד.
After sewing the hat - you can hardly notice this sewed row
והנה היריעה אחרי שסיימנו את תהליך התפירה - כמעט לא ניתן להבחין בשורת החיבור.
Turn the hat to its WS. Use an additional yarn to sew the hole in the hat - insert the needle to each row side st, and pull the yarn in order to minimize and shrink it.
Secure the yarn and weave it in. Turn the hat to its RS.
נהפוך את הכובע לצד השמאלי שלו.
בעזרת מחט נתפור סביב הפתח העליון שלו - נכניס את המחט תחת כל תפר קיצוני בכל שורה ונמשוך כדי לכווץ את הפתח ככל שניתן. נתפור כמה תפרים לביטחון ונחביא את החוט.
